1. You can't rush the process. Lord knows how many ways I tried to maneuver, plot and conspire to get to the big picture of my dreams. What’s the process you ask? The process is the time it takes to birth your dream. The problem with rushing, plotting, and conspiring to get right to the good stuff is that you miss the lessons that you learn at each step. Now don't fret because all lessons are not necessarily bad ones, there are good ones as well. The point is you have to learn them. The beauty about the process is that when make mistakes you still have time to fix them and continue on your journey. When you rush and mistakes happen they are just big glaring mistakes. Trust me I know that of which I speak.
2. Get uncomfortable. I also didn't like learning this lesson. As someone once said great things never came from comfort zones! I thought I was doing it the most. Writing this blog, having bi-weekly Facebook live chats, and launching FABYOU! Those things were challenging but not uncomfortable. To be truly uncomfortable and to grow you have to be willing to give up brunch dates, choose to spend your money to launch a new t shirt line vs concert tickets, you have to face your biggest fears! You have to sacrifice! I was willing to sacrifice but not enough to make me uncomfortable so I failed.
3. Get up, get dressed and GO! Earlier this year I was nominated for a blogger of the year award. The day of the event I felt like crap and just wanted to lay down and get a good nap. However, I knew that this was an honor and that I needed to be present at the dinner. I got up, got my face beat, put on my cute dress and I went. I am glad that I did. That evening was amazing. I did not win the award but I won at life. I was in a room with over 50 amazing women nominees who are doing great things in just about every industry. I was among greatness and there was no where else I would have rather been. My husband, my boss and my sorority sisters were all there to support me and it was simply the best. So sometimes you have to shake off your routine, self-doubts, and yes laziness-GET UP, GET DRESSED AND GO!
Bonus lesson: Just because you have the idea or the vision it doesn’t mean that it has to happen right now. Sometimes we need to truly see the big picture, plan and prepare before we jump into the deep. There are things on our vision boards or maybe we have written in our journals that we really want to do but sometimes you have to wait. Every dream isn’t for now and it’s okay!
As I start year 3, I am grateful for the lessons and had to make some tough decisions. I am excited to see where this year takes me. I am clearing my mind so that the ideas, the creativity and the plans that God has for me can come through loud and clear. I am grateful for each and everyone of you who reads this blog. I am thankful for my supporters. I am blessed to be on this purpose walk.
Until next time, Be Blessed and Fabulous!
