When I started reflecting on this journey from fear to fabulous I had to be honest with myself as to why I was in that state. One reason was complacency. The other elephant in the room: procrastination.
Let me explain, I was the queen of procrastination. I would wait to the last minute to make reservations, to work on projects, and meet deadlines. If it had a deadline attached I would get it done in the 11th hour. It’s like I thrived on the pressure of getting things done. But how did this kill my dream?
Procrastination is another word for lazy. You can't be lazy about pursuing your dreams. You need to be on fire! Because of procrastination I didn’t take enough time to prepare myself for other opportunities with my current company or outside of my company. I procrastinated on networking and growing my brand. I lost years because of this. Let me tell you, if you are a procrastinator you can’t possibly prepare yourself for anything other than failure. You might get lucky a time or two and score some wins but procrastination is not your friend so stop it. Take the time to fully invest in your dreams. You are worth the time and energy it will take to bring your dreams to fruition.
Here are my top 3 tips to help you get started.
1. Make a list of what you want to accomplish and set a goal for completion. I rank mine by number with #1 being the most important thing I need to get done. I give myself a week to complete those items.
2. Cut out the distractions. If you know you need to search for a job then go to job sites only. Do not check your status on Facebook! Do not turn on the tv(orange is the new black can wait). Put your phone in another location so that you won't be distracted by text messages and phone calls.
3. Set realistic goals. Don’t set yourself up for failure by trying to do everything all at once. Remember it's baby steps not a full out race.

Be blessed and fabulous!
